Centering is the path of least resistance. It is safe, it is balanced, and it is everywhere — which is exactly the problem. When every site centers its hero, every site looks like every other site.
Left-aligned text is easier to read. Asymmetry creates hierarchy. A little tension on the page gives the eye somewhere to go. Center things on purpose, not by default.
