Color contrast: the one accessibility fix that pays for itself.

Of all the accessibility wins, this is the cheapest and most visible. A walkthrough of what AA actually requires, where most sites fail it, and how to check yours in five minutes.

Contrast is the rare accessibility fix that also makes your site look better to everyone. WCAG AA asks for a 4.5:1 ratio for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Most sites fail it in the same three places: light-gray helper text, pale placeholder labels, and washed-out button states.

Run your palette through a contrast checker once, fix the tokens at the source, and you have solved it everywhere at once.
